Update COVID-19 15 January 2021
15 January 2021 — Two hundred and fifty-seven (257) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 5538 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases ten thousand, five hundred, and seventy-three (10573). To date, seven thousand, and twenty-eight (7028) patients have recovered, including fifty-four (54) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is three thousand, four hundred and seven (3407) and one hundred and thirty-eight (138) deaths. The 5 new deaths are all male of 98, 85, 74, 63, and 54 years old in Kigali.
The new cases are in Kigali (159), Gicumbi (16), Gisagara (14), Rwamagana (13), Huye (13), Karongi (10), Muhanga (7), Kirehe (7), Nyagatare (4), Musanze (3), Gatsibo (2), Ngoma (2), Rubavu (2) Ruhango (1),Rusizi (1), Nyamagabe (1), Burera (1), and Ngororero (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.
The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
